The highest level of Nigeria's Judiciary is the Supreme Court. It is constitutionally vested with the Supreme judicial powers of the Nigerian sovereignty for the maintenance of justice within the territory. The members of the Court are appointed through a process that is designed to ensure that the wisdom of the peoples of Nigeria symbolized in the judgement of their elected President as well as their law-making aptitude vested in the elected legislature are involved in the appointment of any single member of the Supreme Court. Currently, there are fourteen members of the Court, 11 males and 3 females.
